I am Sally Fraser, MAI, principal of Fraser Appraisal Services, a Northern California based firm.

I appraise public structures for the purpose of opining replacement cost values for insurance purposes.  Typical users of my services include cities, counties, special purpose districts and universities. What holds my interest in this field, besides being able to travel all over California, and meet with people who hold in-depth knowledge about the properties for which they are responsible, is being able to learn about so many different types of structures. One day might bring me to a few different types of water tanks, fed by various types of above and below ground infrastructure. Another day might involve the tour of police stations and fire-fighter training facilities. Some buildings such as libraries, performing arts centers, museums and city halls can be exceptionally beautiful.  There is a certain energy one experiences when touring college campuses.

Prior to work in the public sector, my efforts focused primarily in the review of appraisals prepared on commercial and residential properties.  Intertwined, I supervised and managed appraisal employees/departments and wrote appraisal reports.
